STONECREST
This Okanogan home to be built of talus rock from the site is set on a rock cliff next to a lake and overlooking a meadow. The finished appearance will such that the structure and the cliff site would be naturally part of a whole and inseparable from each other.
For the most part the rooms are laid out according to the Golden Rectangle (root 3) or root 2 ,as is the roof structure . The raised sections of the roof structures are also root 3 and include opening windows for cooling and ventilation .
The broad roof fascias are copper, and there is a one foot band of tinted glass between the roof and the top of the rock walls, which is interrupted at the structural support points with the one foot diameter cast steel balls.
Internally, the floors are ceramic thru out, and at the vertical division of the rock walls and openings such as doors and windows, are inserted vertical LED lighting strips as ambient lighting and accent.
Heating is supplied by an electric hot air furnace , this is supplemented particularly in a power outage with a clean burning wood fireplace/stove which is also connected to the duct work.
